Swine Flu Outbreak - Swine Flu Influenza

A previously unknown strain of swine influenza is a never-before-seen hybrid of viruses from swine, birds and humans. This unknown strain has infecting people in Mexico and the United States and may have potentially killed over 50 people in Mexico.

What is Swine Influenza (Flu)

Swine Flu(Swine Influenza) is a common respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza that is known to cause outbreaks of influenza among pigs. Normally, swine flu viruses do not infect humans, however, human infections have been known to occur when people have close or constant contact with infected animals.

How can you protect yourself

It is advisable that you protect yourself by avoiding contact with infected animals, avoiding eating pork, and keeping yourself protected by wearing face mask, latex gloves and keeping your hands germ free with hand-wipes.
